The slant of the Liberal quotes in that article make it pretty clear that they feel they can get past this.

They're claiming that the Premier had already played her card to dictate who the Liberal candidate would be, and that they were offering Olivier the consolation prize, if he wanted to remain active in the party. That would indeed NOT be bribing him to not seek the nomination.

It's a VERY strong leg to stand on. Be interesting to see how the commission reads into it all.

At any rate, there's diddly-squat that can be done about it until the next election and by then,it will be forgotten. Business as usual....moving on.....

This whole thing reeks! Irrespective of how they want to spin in it was wrong on so many levels.

The paper shredders and IT guys must be working late wiping out hard drives again.
Do you really think that this "elections" office ( who are Provincial employees, civil servants ) is going to turn on Wynne? They are the people who financed her re-election. The OPP will never bite the hand that overfeeds them, not gonna happen. This is now normal business here in Ontario. Payoffs, coverups, corruption, destruction of archived evidence, and let's not even bother listing the rest of the disasters that seem to surface almost weekly here. Wait until the PANAM games get audited, I predict that will be a Liberal orgy of theft and coverups.

Regardless of the legality of what they did, and although I am aware this is provincial politics and not under the direction of Mr. Turd eau. It goes, nonetheless, to show that the Liberals do NOT believe in open nominations and transparency in candidate selection.

There were concerns that the Guelph robo-call user had access to the Conservative Party national voter identification database, known as "CIMS". The information from this database was used to target voters who identified themselves as voting against the Conservative Party.[22][47] The CIMS database requires a secure login, and all use of the database is logged. Since the voters who were targeted had spoken (during legitimate calls) with the Conservative Party and identified themselves as non-Conservative voters, the initiator of the robocalls ("Pierre Poutine") had been one of a limited number of Conservative Party staff or volunteers who had access to the voter database. The Conservative Party did not reveal the list of people who had access to this database. The party's investigator, lawyer Arthur Hamilton, instructed party workers not to discuss the events during the Elections Canada investigation of the Conservative Party headquarters.[48][49]
