    Default Mad Cow Disease

    It looks like MCD is still around - a cow in Alberta has come down with it and also a cow in California - now the question is - how many other cows are infected with this life threatening disease - this isn't something that you can kill or get rid of by cooking - you eat it you most probably will die - it causes your brain to become a sponge - it think until this thing is settled I'll stick with chicken, pork, venison and a lot of fish - I wonder if over the years people have died with brain diseases and were never connected to MCD -

    The packing plant I was at last week was complaining that the high price of buying cattle was making it difficult to turn a profit, funny how we now magically have mad cow disease again.

    I think we should hold off throwing the mad cow disease label around maybe this cow is not mad but misunderstood and really wanted to be a pig instead perhaps therapy is the cure.

    Hate to be the bearer of bad news but sooner or later.....

    Kind of sad to see this. Hopefully it doesn't rebound. I forsee the price of beef dropping again should there be more cases found.

    It was one cow . It is closely monitored and no need to blow this out of proportion. It will always be around and cattle ranchers ,stockyards and killing plants are always on alert for this since the last outbreak. The last outbreak was 20 head of cattle that was removed from the food chain. This is why this one head of cattle was found because of the safety measures put in place. Beef prices may lower slightly but Canadians will continue to eat beef because of the safety measures put in place. I am having western beef this evening for my sons birthday and will be also raising a glass of wine to the Canadian beef industry. We need to continue to support this industry and trust it. We have the best beef in the world.

    I wish I could rid myself of the habit too, but I eat beef, usually t-bones or rib eyes 5 times a week. I can't seem to get the stuff out of my freezer! And Sundays is roast beef night. Homegrown black angus. Keeps the kids coming back to the farm for suppers on Sunday!
