I have one fussy eater too. I've waited her out more than once ,but she'll go 3 days without eating. That's as long as I'll go without having her eat , so she won. I buy a good dog food and cheap dog food cans. I mix well a couple tablespoons of the cheap stuff + the good stuff in the bowl with water and problem solved.

Not to say I am right, but if it was my dog I'd feed Pro Plan Sport.
At 8 months he doesn't need puppy food anymore, not that he ever did, but that's another thread.

That's how my Mom feed us....6 kids and no one ever refused a meal more than once ..LOL...

I never put much thought into dog food till I started to read posts on this forum….way to many worry warts. A vet once told me, feed appropriate to age/breed (puppy food, active dog , senior etc) and make just make sure it has the “Veternarian seal of Approval” on the bag…that means avoid the cheap WalMart Old Roy ….but you don’t need the Science Digest either.

I recall we had a few finicky eaters and my wife would run warm tap water over the kibble and let it sit for a few minutes till it made it's own gravy...worked like a charm.

Shouldn't have to add warm water if it's a high quality dog food. You may want to have him tested for parasites if he is under weight to be sure and may not be even dog food related.

I'm going to get a better type of dog food and try that he's still on puppy chow so hopefully the change to adult dog food will help he always has a full dish

I don't know about others, but I have never left food out in a bowl for the dogs. It's always been a twice a day feeding. I think that may help, feed him when he's hungry instead of leaving out out for demand feeding.
