That's weird bbd. My old 4 speed tranny in my 05 sits below 2000 at 90 as well, and in 09 ford went to the 6 speed. It almost sounds like you had it in tow mode.
Nine pointer that's the firs I've heard of that. The ecoboost has plenty of hp and torque. The only issue I heard about was timing chains. Not sure if they worked that one out.

I'd have to check my records but for some reason I think it may have been in 2011? Then again....it was a rental...

Yes, still a 6 speed so it should rev lower (Ford used less steep gearing too). Maybe you had the tow mode turned on? Either way it definitely doesn't sound proper to be reving that high.

I just bought a 2014 F150 with the 3.7 V6 in November.
I was not interested in the ecoboost (maintenance reason) and did not need the HP of the V8. So I got the V6 wich has 305hp and 275 pound of torque. Plenty for what I do.
I shopped ALL models before making my choice and did not have a brand loyalty.
The F150 was by far the best equipped for the money. It was cheaper than a base Colorado or Tacoma and the specs are much better than those 2.
Its been in the shop twice for hub replacement under warranty, but I expect a few fixes from brand new vehicles.
Overall, for a SuperCab 4x4 truck, after 5 months of use, I could not ask for better.

I can't be too sure on this. If it was too much truck for the engine it wouldn't have the towing capacity it does and wouldn't be squashing all its competitors stock vs stock on the 1/4 mile. Even the little 2.7L is a rocket.
The one thing I have been told direct from Ford is that some are running into issues when they try and clean the intake. Apparently the caked on crud is goofing the turbos if someone tries to run a cleanser through it.
How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

I don't doubt you're words. My mechanic was clear on the "stay away" part, but my mind is foggy on the specific reasons...

Anyone out there with experience or knowledge of the Nissan Frontier?
