Hummingbird portable problems

I've had a Hummingbird portable fish finder for at least 20 years. It's been reliable in all seasons.
Last week, I went out in the -40 degree weather and when I tried it this week, my screen had no display.
The lantern batteries still tested well (I tried them in flashlights) and the machine would beep, but there was nothing on the screen.
Worth fixing (and where)? Or it owes me nothing after that long and time for a replacement?
Thoughts?

A 20 year old unit is definitely not worth fixing.
Doubtful any parts could be found and even if they could be found it would cost you far more than the units worth.
Even a new $100 unit would be far more capable than your 20 year old unit.
Time to upgrade.

Thanks. That's what I figured. It looks brand spanking new though. I hate throwing stuff like this away. For all I know I have one loose wire.

if the machine made a beeping noise then your at least getting a signal to it. let the poor thing warm up a bit and try again.

Radio world has some great units of you decide to get a new one, I have the Hummingbird 386 and love it.

My model is a 100SX.

I'd test the batteries with a volt meter, a buddy had the same problem with a older Lowrance ,would beep but no screen. He said his battery was good so ended up buying a new unit and gave me his old one to take apart and play with. When he hooked up the new finder same problem, battery had a bad cell. My older unit also would start acting up if the voltage gets below 11.7V.

You can get a good entry level colour one for 150 or so which will be 10x better then your old clunker

Turns out, it WAS the batteries. Just because they were purchased in a store does not make them new.
STILL going.
