Even if the moron with the chainsaw was correct regarding the boundaries, why would he think he had logging rights to the property? If I was leasing him the land he actually DID have the rights to, I'd non-renew that lease at first opportunity. I'd also expect compensation if he did that on my property.
So many critters & so little time to hunt......

Logging rights ???...he tried to kill another hunter because he thought he had put a stand up on land that he thought HE had leased....
Michael Palm, 60, Grovertown, was upset at a tree stand placed on what he thought was property he’d leased for hunting access,

Absolutely, along with criminal negligence endangering life, wilful destruction of private property and mischief. He'd definitely be looking at jail time.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Sorry Mike, there isn't a sarcasm font on my keyboard. He could easily have sabotaged the climbing sticks or stand to further his lunatic plan, why cut down the tree, unless it was to make it more obvious than a missing screw or cut strap.

My friend had his tree stand stolen on private property that he was supposed to be the only person who was granted permission. When he asked the landowner about it the owner was quite angry. Turns out the son came home with it after he and his buddies "found" it in the bush then gave it away to one of his buddies. My friend got an apology and a new stand out of the deal. Savage308

You are correct. The guy that cut the tree was off his permission and on the the property next door.

The trespasser AND the guy that cut the tree are the same person....The hunter that had the stand was allowed to be there and NOT trespassing.

Farmer's sons(Daughters) have been known to some dump things, in some cases it insures only the smarter ones get to grow up to be farmers...
I will tell you about the farmer's daughter that burned her boyfriend's SS NOVA some day. I will give you a hint.....it was already sold to pay for rings and a down payment on a house....
