Hunting with a Tavor

I've seen AR-15s and such used for Coyote hunting. Not around here mind you. I mean, for practical hunting purposes, that gun in the original post doesn't cut it. I'm sure it'd put some holes in stuff though.

When I think of a coyote rifle, I think of a dead accurate bolt rifle. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

The OP's thread title says it. He wants to use it cause it is an "evil, baby-eating black rifle." Nothing about the performance or merits of the firearm. It looks cool to him.

First of all, it is a cool looking gun. But mostly I am looking for a tool to do a job. In this case it's Coyotes and Coyotes only.

Regarding practical use, I have seen several TAVOR range reports showing 1 MOA groups at 100 yards with handloads and scope fitted. I would even be happy with 2 MOA for a hunting purpose. The bullpup design makes it short, easy to handle and it balances well for off hand shooting Then there is the TOTALLY LEGAL 10 round capacity. How's that for performance?

I'm just wondering - does anyone here hunt with a military style "assault" rifle? There are a few NON RESTRICTED options like the TAVOR, Swiss Arms SG550 and the Robinson XCR;

I especially like the TAVOR;




I think it would be a lot of fun using this to hunt Coyotes. It also accepts 10-round .223 LAR pistol mags which are legal, circumventing the 5 round limit. Just in case I run into a whole family of coyotes But something tells me I might get a lot of unwanted attention walking around with it in the field.

What do you guys think?

First of all, I have followed this thread pretty closely. This isn't my first post on it either.

Second of all your original post, was not about performance but rather looks, and your title said a lot, and "I think it would be fun" and crap about circumventing a 5-round clip. And stupid stuff about running into a family of coyotes. Then you go and answer your own question that ya you will "get a lot of unwanted attention," however from someone who posts that crap it seems to me that it might not be "unwanted" attention. It almost seems to me like you are a youngster looking for attention.

Thirdly there are many reports of many traditional style hunting rifles that boast sub MOA groupings at 100yds, Sako won't let a gun leave the factory if it doesn't meet this criteria.

Lastly, and the last thing I will say on this topic is that anyone with any interest on this topic on this forum I think has levelled their opinion at least once (some more). Now lets just let the thing die.

I think it is sweet.
If it is legal then who cares. I would go out into the field and axe coyotes with that all day. I dont care what people think about my gun as long as it is legal. I have a mini 14 and i have used that deer hunting and nobody cared it may not look as "futuristic" as that one.
As for the cops i have had the cops called on me 3 days in a row for hunting a totally legal field with my totally legal shotgun. I had them yell drop your weapon and put your hands in the air and slowly walk towards me. So i did and told them that im not doing anything illegal and the cop took my information down and drove off.
Everyone has different tastes and there is nothing wrong with that.

People who don’t like guns don’t care what a gun looks like they still hate it. If it is a good tool that is light weight shoots strait and is reliable for ethically harvesting an animal then it looks to me like you got yourself a good hunting gun! Who cares if some people that own guns don’t like the look of it let them hate!
