These guys are not leaders within the OPP. They are leaders within the union. Big difference.

Did you even bother to read the article?
In addition to their management roles with the Ontario Provincial Police Association, or OPPA, all three are also OPP officers. Christie holds the rank of detective-sergeant while the other two men are constables

That's all well and good, but, they are Association leaders,NOT OPP leaders. They do not,nor have they ever, spoken for the OPP nor do they have any authority or capacity as OPP command managers. Evidently,it was rank and file LEO's that laid the complaint with OPP upper command. The Commissioner's Office brought in the RCMP to do an "arms length" investigation....as they should have.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Can you imagine the headlines if this OPP guy had been a Conservative candidate instead of a,Liberal one?
In the end these guys were likely profiting personally from Union dues. Let's see how this plays out.

I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Well, yes I did and my statement stands. They are a sergeant and a couple of constables with OPP credentials. They are not "OPP leaders" as your title suggests. The issue is not with the police service, it is with their actions within the union. Once again, your choice of title is misleading and IMO, unfair to the OPP service. Misleading and a bit exploiting? Something the Toronto Star may do.

The title is a direct cut and paste from the news article. I am simply relaying the news story.
Cops regardless if they are a constable or commissioner are sworn to an oath. You may wish to down play it but as leaders of a union it reflects poorly on the organization and its rank and file members. These are the same people that lobby and influence the government in regards to laws in this province. The fact that they have been very cosy with the Liberals
does not help their cause either. Nice to see the bad apples removed from the bushel but how deep does the rot really go? The public has a right to know.
If you have followed the Charbonneau commission in Quebec you would know that corruption is present at the highest level of government. Well, now we know that Ontario is not exempt with all the scandals that have recently been made public in the media.
