    Default Hydrofoil Stabilizer on outboard

Does anyone have one of these on your boat and did the out of hole performance improve? I have a Explorer 1600 with a 40Hp 4 stroke and am thinking about putting one on my boat and wanted to throw it out there and see if it was worth it or not.

    Thanks guys

The biggest advantage I found with those is it helps prevent the down rigger cables from hitting the prop.

Had the same model but mine was a 15 footer, I had a 08 40hp evinrude e tec on it and it took off well just the way it was, 33 miles per hour at 5500 rpms, but two 200 pound guys and gear made it work. Never thought about installing one but it might have helped.

A jack plate will also give you better hole shot.

marginal improvement on some hulls...but does reduce top end performance due to drag

What it really did for mine was getting rid of the porpoising, no matter where the trim was set or weight distributed in the boat, it wanted to porpoise. I put on the no drill model on mine, tight as a drum. http://www.basspro.com/SE-Sport-400-...ct/1307220921/

you will get on plane easier and should help stay up on plane but you may lose some top end speed. I have a similar boat 16 ft starcraft sc it came with a 40 4 stroke evinrude, tried the hydrofoil and it helped in some aspects. Finally I upgraded to a 70 hp 4 stroke johnson ,the boat is rated for a 75,so pretty much maxed out and a huge difference in performance.
