Default Price Of Guns & Ammo Going ↑

Stopped in at the Cambridge Sail store yesterday. Headed to the gun counter to browse, and the first thing that caught my attention was the increase in price on many items since I was last there around Xmas. I had bought some Long Beard turkey loads at that time for $16.99 a box. I did a double take when I saw the price for the same loads was now $24.99. Spent time talking with the guy at the counter who said that most increases were due to the poor exchange range between the US and Canadian dollar. I was told the last shipment of Browning guns saw an increase of about $200 - 300 per gun. If you're in the market for a new firearm, best hit the stores now and see if you can find some old stock, because you can be assured that all new stock will most likely be sporting a price increase.

Also checked out the availability of .22 LR ammo. There was none, only a few boxes of .22 short. Also very little .17HMR. Was told that new shipments of .22 rimfire usually disappear within a few days of arriving. Lots of guys there talking about the scavenger hunts they have been on looking for it throughout the area.

I see that BassPro also is listing the Winchester Long Beards for $24...man I had no idea they had gotten that expensive.

I picked up a box of Kent Ultimate Diamond Turkey (#5) loads yesterday at the Gun show for $10..I didn't think it was a great deal, but with taxes in why not, saves me the gas to head in to Ottawa to pick them up

Lots of new .22LR at the Gun Show...but, to say they were marked up would be an understatement....Holy Crap, gouging at it's finest !!

Every retailer I have spoke with says the shortage will be over shortly and the supply lines will be able to meet the demand for powder and ammo...will we see the prices normalize again? ....I have my doubts.

For the most part the excuses for price increase is for greater profit. If the exchange rate was a concern when the dollar was at par you still saw higher prices than the American contour part. Turkey loads are up since the season is around the corner hence greater chance of hooking a sucker waiting for the last minute. Learn to play the game take stock of what you need shop the sales avoid last minute purchases. Only way to keep a few more bucks in your pocket than theirs.

I was needing some powder and bullets. Cabelas in Barrie were out of stock , in what I wanted. I watched the cabelas website out of Winnapeg . They got some 4895 an 4064 last week as well as some bullets and primers. They will ship it to Barrie no charge. Delivery about a week. Not sure about price increase, I wanted it. Old 243

Are you sure that wasn't a sale price I bought some last year too, the best price I could find was $22.99. I checked all the stores at that time, Sail, Bass Pro, Cabelas.....

I buy ammo whenever I see it for a good price. Doesnt matter if its the middle of January and im not going to be using it for 8 months. I always check the ammo section of any store im in that sells ammo, and I attend half a dozen or so gun shows per year. Ive never had an issue finding sub $20 soft points and sub $30 premium ammo for my .308

As for guns, Im a pretty large proponent of buying used. The only guns I've bought new were on sale and I had gift cards to put towards them.

Demand is strong in the USA and our dollar is weak. Yep, prices are only going to go up and supply will be difficult.

Paid 16.99 for 3 inch 6 shot long bear and I think the price is 19.99. That must be the 3 and 1/2 inch shells... Prices are up for sure..

This is all I use. It's cheap and it patterns very well.
