Canadian Tire selling illegal Turkey loads?

Re: the mix of small shot in these heavy duty loads - have a look at how much energy a #7 1/2 has at 50+ yards. Adding the small shot for a denser pattern at long range is best described as sucker-bait. The only place for smaller shot in turkey hunting as at shorter ranges and then almost any load will do - small shot will have the energy - large shot will have the pattern density.

Wouldn't it be the other way, large shot would have the energy and small shot the pattern density. Even though they are not legal to use on turkey, that #7 hevi shot would hold more energy than a #6 lead would.

I visit a usa web sight and the boys down there are having very good luck with the federal heavy weight 7 shot ..thy are getting 150 to 170 pellets in a 10 inch circle at 40 yards ..thy cannot get enough of this stuff ..Dutch

Yeah, this is just like stores selling real deer urine. It's legal to sell, but not to use while hunting.

I use Kent Turkey Loads... $7-8 for 10.

Just like any non-predator electronic calls. A store associate once told me that those are sold for "training", you know so you can hear what you should be sounding like with your mouth calls.

That was my reasoning when I moved to the Kent Ulimate Turkey loads that had the 4,5,6 shot combination (C122TK46-4,5,6)(http://www.huntstuff.com/catalog_ven...ateturkey.html)

It made sense to get (hopefully) the best performance out of the 3 different shot sizes in one shot.

They work, but getting harder to find.

It is not illegal for them to sell........only illegal for you to use while turkey hunting. No different than buying #1 or #2 lead shot.......you can buy it but don't get caught hunting waterfowl with it because you will be fined.

Given the god awful price, I'm not sure many will be taking to the field with these loads regardless.

However, they are in fact a factory loaded "stringer load" which would also have merits for hunting bunnies, grouse, pheasants in tough cover.....

Not at 10 bucks a pop......and 3 1/2". If you want to go thru a couple boxes shooting grouse or pheasant in a day... Hell I may just buy you the boxes but only if you let my video it and post it "EVERWHERE"!

Nope. I'll load my own stringer loads in 2 3/4" thanks.

I wouldn't be so sure. I bet the guys who get caught with these loads would be the late starting guys with too much money, who don't have time to pattern their guns so they go out and buy the most expensive "hardest hitting" loads to compensate for not knowing their gun. just my guess....
