all in all, as i said before, its gonna come down to personal preference on what you like the feal of... all the bikes that CptSydor lists as top runners, if properly maintained will last a long time, its gonna come down to preference... as someone else had offered earlier, if you or the original poster are up this way, shoot me a PM and i can show ya what the king quads can do...

one thing to keep in mind is honda and suzuki have bin making atvs for 30 years... in that time im sure they have learned a thing or 2 about building them... to me best choice new is the kingquad 500, followed by the foreman 500, again though, belt drive vs gear drive...

power wise buy what suits your budget... i never planned on buying a 700, i was actually on my way south to pick up a 450, when my local dealership who i know the owner at, called me and said he just had the 700 come in on trade, with only 800 kms on it, and i got it for less money then i was gonna pay for the 450, and actually enjoy the 700...

one other note to pass along with regards to the foremans... this comes right from the owner of a local dealership: stay away from the electronic shifts, they were haveing problems with them, that was back in 2010 mind you, so hopefully they got that resolved...

we never had a problem with the electric shift on a Honda but I did have one freeze up the rear end well up north one year deer hunting ,the day before the season we were out riding and I got off the side of a beaver dam ,well it turns out my rear seal was a little old and worn ,but a pail of water off the woods stove and away we go ,,Dutch

I don't even have an atv, and when the time comes for me to get one, i'll be happy with just about anything in the 350-600 range.

That was actually mostly aimed at Dutch (in jest of course), but to all Honduh fanboys in general..LOL

Something that you may want to consider is that the small bikes leave very little room for small mods like larger tires if you want them. There's just no room, but tires are everything when it comes to performance.
If you're just riding around the property then the stock tires will be fine however. I know that when I buy a truck, ATV, or whatever, there's always some kind of mod I want to do, but that's just me.

I'd just be buying one for my dad to use for maple sap collecting. Good tires would be the extent of the modifications. All our time and money would go to improving the trails and collection system to make the atv's life easier.
