My Next Apprentice
My youngest turns 12 on Oct 30th, right in the height of the fall waterfowl and just prior to the controlled hunt. Does anyone know if he can do his hunter ed and firearms safety courses prior to his birthday so we can get his A1 as soon as possible?

He can most certainly do the courses but cannot get the paperwork until the date of his birthday. When my oldest (now 15) did his courses a month and a half before his birthday. The day he turned 12 we where at service Ontario getting the paperwork done and left with him being legal.

Interesting, I was told I couldn't. Sure wish I would have used your instructor, I could have had my daughter do the course the same time her brother did.

I've heard of folks taking the course as much as 8 months prior to their birthday and then completing the examination once they were of age.
Can't see why it would be an issue.
