Default Will NOT buy a moose license anymore

Finally fed up with the whole system. Sad to say that after 40 years of buying moose licenses, I will NOT buy another moose license anymore in Ontario until they get their act together.

Stewing about it does sit well with me and there's nothing more that I can do. I feel that if I buy one, I condone what the ministry is doing and giving them the green light in continuing to screw things up even more

This is my small way of protesting for what they have done. I feel better knowing that I've done my small part.

No matter what meetings, discussions or other crap they tell you, the real issues will not be discussed nor any action will be done on what matters. You can attend all the meetings you want, this government is hurting for $$.

Screw Hydo up, sell it, pay off your grocery magnets, higher prices, and on and on it goes.

OFAH have done what they can do without losing funding for the gov. and on and on.

Sorry for the rant guys and gals

    Decision made.

Understand how you feel.. last year was my first.. and my last moose hunt.. I really would love to go as I loved it, but the is of a tag, the cost involved.. has out this our sole out of the sport. Add soon as my wife realizes how fubar this province is, than I can take my family and leave. My bags are packed, and ready to go.

I've heard the same thing from a lot of Ontario moose hunters. I feel sorry for the northern communities that benefited from many of these hunters. Might be busier than usual in Quebec over the next few years.

Very well said Elvis , I am sad to here that after so long your giving it up , but certainly understand why . As for Quebec , manny will look in that direction for a solution to the problem , much like they did last year when they all came north due to cuts in tags in the New Liskerd area . But it will only be temporary befor it gets over run then population will decline and they'll be in the same boat again . There is only one solution to this problem , it's just getting both sides to sit down and make an agreement befor it's reAly too late ... Maybe it already is ? Cheers

Hard to argue with that sentiment, Elvis. I feel like the OFAH did what they could, but the government made up their minds a long time ago. Anti-hunters are infiltrating the ministry and things are going to keep getting worse.

Write a letter to the Minister of Natural Resources , laying out all your complaints and anything you can think of , I did and also send a copy of the same letter to Wynne.
I doubt that I will get a reply but at least I got my feelings off my chest to the "POWERS that Be " instead of just complaining here on the forum.
I have been hunting moose for 56 years now, started at 16 years of age , just missed hunting one year due to my job which I quit when they wouldn't let me take holidays in the fall. I have seen the good and worst of it as it is now, have had enough , talked it over with my friend that owns the camp and we may go up just to wander around and hunt grouse.

This is what happens when the ministry thinks they know it all instead of asking the people who use the resources, our group was saying we may just go for the fishing and bird hunting maybe bear if somebody wants one. They talk about getting the population up but some areas there is alot more cow tags than bulls, niceway to help bring up the population the ministry should screen the people before they hire them. Just because you have the credentials doesn't mean you know how to use them

Well, at least we had a good run eh "E".....! 34 good years without missing one season for our group. Might also add, we have never eaten tag soup.....except last fall. And I guess we didn't then as the tag holder was a local buddy, who filled it in December...We could have filled the truck with Wolves though. I feel sorry for the guys just getting into moose hunting. We haven't decided yet for this year, but I highly doubt we will go !

We will be going again, already decided on a new spot where we can get a bull. We are already planning, google scouting, booked the holidays, planning an aerial scouting trip and on the verge of losing sleep with all the early planning going through my mind. I started looking forward to this season before the last season was over. Perhaps I'm going against the grain but as long as there are tags available I'll be in the draw to get one.

Moose hunting is my favourite week of the year, short of death I'd never give it up....
