I could give you a hell of a honey hole, good enough that I'd guarantee several bulls. Unfortunately the mnr has determined that there are not enough bulls to even offer 1 tag but hey, they know best...

I also know of an area with the same ability to produce, within a half day drive of southern Ontario. Problem is that tags are scarce, even though moose are everywhere in the area.

Our guys are the most die-hard Moose hunters I've ever hunted with and even they're getting very discouraged. There was a huge reduction in tag allocation for our area last year and even more cuts, this year. Half of nothing is still nothing. It's enought bring a tear to a glass eye.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

its funny how they can cut tags minimum 15per cent, and not cut the seasons back ex area 40 this yr 5 bull tags. I think last yr was 65 3 week archery season 5 week rifle why not cut season back to one week in this area

Likely because there wouldn't be any licenses sold which impacts the bottom line. This is one of our most contentious issues. The government wants to curtail the hunt without impacting the revenue stream all the while trying to convince us that's it's for the good of the herd. Typical Liberal suck and blow at the same time.

They should do the right thing and close it down completely in areas where there are low moose numbers, without consideration of lost revenues for them or for outfitters, otherwise we will have no moose left at all. Minnesota has done this for a couple of years now, and things are still getting worse there, not better.

How can they still give out so many cow tags (in some cases more than bulls) and still say they are worried about the populations declining in those areas? For starters, they should not give out ANY cow tags. I think they have and will continue to cause the decline with their money motivated policies.

    Very frustrating and sad.

Bear, bird and backlake fishing for me. What a shame, feel so sorry for the locals who relied on the moose hunter revenue.

I am going to opt out. I feel if you support this liberal backed agenda you aren't much of a conservationist and don't care about the future of this species. A lot of guys are going to say hey better chance for me. But that just shows the guys who just like to kill things. I love moose hunting and spending time with my friends but it's the principle of the matter. You need to make a statement if you really care.

That's a great attitude to have. Moose hunting, getting away for a week, spending time with buddies, possibly going to places in the province you've never been before, generally great grouse hunting, the learning experience, supporting northern communities.... there are so many benefits and positives to moose hunting.

It looks like you'll be starting a new tradition with your brother and that's great! This tag system is like hunting, you don't always get one and sometimes there are adverse conditions but rather then quit and give up you get out there and rise above. You never know what opportunities you'll miss out on if you never take them....

Exactly how I feel. More about the principle. This gov is $ driven. It doesn't sit well with me to give the $50 for a license into a program which totally flawed and a ministry which doesn't have enough back bone to address the real issues as previous stated.
