Terrova vs Xi5
Hello,
First post to the forum.
Im in the market for a new trolling motor & fishfinder.
I know the Terrova is a great motor but does anyone have any experience with the MotorGuide Xi5?
I like Minn Kota but I prefer Lowrance FF units so i think the Xi5 might be the way to go.
What are your thoughts?

You can still use a Lowrance Sonar with a Minn Kota bowmount. I have an HDS 9 Touch and a HDS 7 Touch. The internal transducer on the Terrova is compatible with Lowrance and Hummingbird units.
I have owned both Minn Kota and MotorGuide, and they both are good; although the Terrova is miles above the MG. Spotlock, Autopilot, course memorization.
It seems the Motorguide is starting to catch up, but very slowly.

So i ended getting the MotorGuide Xi5 and glad i did.
I have always been a huge Minn Kota guy and never even considered MG but I think this model is far superior to the Terrova.
The Spot lock is incredible and works effortlessly, the wireless foot pedal is awesome, its very quiet when at full speed and it works amazing with my Lowrance HDS 9. The only thing i would give credit to the terrova is the remote because of the lcd screen but other than this, the Xi5 is a far better motor, IMO.

Lets hope so. I just took a chance on the motorguide, and I hope its all they claim. Apparently the spotlock function is way better.

I also bought the Xi5
80lb thrust 60in shaft.
It is amazing love it. I hooked up my lowrance 17m to it and bought a lowrance HDS 9 for the console. Both were a great choice.
Only thing I wish I bought was the pull string to retrieve it back into its bracket..
Great deal and tons of features. The anchor positioning button is sweet holds my 19ft starcraft in place no matter what the winds are.
