Default Rinehart RhinoBlock Shipping From Cabelas

Ordered the Rinehart RhinoBlock after much re-search / recommendations. Seems like a solid block.

Hopped onto Cabelas.ca as I have a gift card.

Block retails for 249.99 After taxes, 282.48.

Shipping that's another 18.92, special handling, because it's a square... and 20lbs... that's another 34.00 just over 50 bucks in shipping and handling charges, and 83.43 with taxes added.

I would have been fine paying the standard 18 dollar delivery, but I refused to pay an extra 34 in "handling fees"

Got it shipped free to the Barrie store, and Sister In Law will go pick it up, and I'll ship it internally for free.

Can't imagine it cost Cabelas any extra to ship it, it's not a huge ackward heavy package, its a perfect square at 20lbs, seems to just pad their account.

Ah well I digress, anxious to get shooting at it

Shipping in Canada is and has always been a huge problem.

I've been buying stuff (some big) thru eBay for years and have had stuff shipped from California-Florida-Washinnton State to my Po box in Ogdensburg for peanuts compared to Canada. The USPS flat rate shipping is what Can Post has to adopt in order to survive.

Same with UPS ...U.S. side....cheap to have large heavy stuff shipped across the states. I've had stuff shipped from California to NY far cheaper than it cost me to ship stuff from Ottawa to Kitchener.

On the other side of the coin...If I want to save shipping cost....it costs me over $15 (round trip)in gas to drive into the city..have to factor that into the equation. Cheaper to have Lee Valley ship it to my mail box.

TR, I was curious so I looked that same block from Amazon.com with FREE shipping is only about $175 (CDN) to the UPS store in Massena and your relatives in Cornwall could have swung down and picked it up then surface ship to you ....

edit add: just noticed for the same price as Cabela's they offer FREE shipping thru Amazon Canada.

Thanks mike. It be nice if Amazon.com shipped to Canada. I did see the .ca was same price with free shipping but can't use the 50 bucks off gift card there.

If there was no cabelas gc in play that's where I would have ordered. Ah well free to ship to store and sister in law will go get it.

Got the order shipped for free to store in Barrie, Sister In Law picked it up on Tuesday night, tossed it onto the North Land bus yesterday afternoon in Orillia, 24 bucks later (32Lbs) it's here.

Can't beat that kind of shipping!

I was going to recommend shipping by bus but figured you'd think I was nuts...no one does than anymore

When my daughter was up in New Liskard, we used to fill an old hockey bag with stuff and drop it of at the Grey Hound in Ottawa and she's get it up there the next day. Cheap and quick for big items.

Didn't even think of it. SIL suggested it. Least she's good for something. Lol.

Went and picked it up, not as heavy as I though it was, carries nice. Seems to be very well built and solid, flung 5 arrows at it, then slipped it over, put one foot on it, and pulled has hard as I could to get them out, and watched the holes disappear before my eyes.

I did order Scorpion Venom arrow lube to help with removal, but it hasn't arrived yet.

All that's left on the face where I shot are small dimples, seems the self healing works well. I imagine if I do my part, in taking care of the target and not leaving it out, it should last for quite sometime.

Well worth the investment, especially with the speed of the now bows. You used to be able to get away with the cheaper blocks, but even then they were only good for a few yrs. This will last you a lifetime of shooting. Good Buy !!
