Well on Wednesday was my first time out this season and took my 6 year old daughter out of school to hunt with my parents at my uncles place near Lindsay. We got to the field a little later than I was hoping. We had a couple gobbles that where behind our blinds when we where making our way to the blinds. We quickly set out a feeding hen out and got into the blind. I took my first bird 2 years ago and my mom has not taken a Turkey so I told her that I would call and she is first to shoot. I made some light yelps and had a Tom come out about 75 yards north of us. Made another call and the Tom was slowly making its way towards the decoy. It came within 25 yards of me and was not wanting to come closer south to the decoy. My parents where set up in a blind right beside ours just south. We watched it for a good 5 mins. It gave 1 gobble in the field and I was waiting for my mom to shoot. She did not have her gun up prior to seeing the bird and my dad said to shoot so when she shouldered the gun the Turkey saw her and started to head back north. It went about 5 yards North and I realized my mom was not going to shoot out in front of us so I grabbed my gun which was leaning inside the blind. I quickly shouldered, got the bead on its neck and pulled the trigger. It was flopping around and it finally expired in a ditch of water. My daughter was amazing. She has not heard a shotgun go off before and she did not have any issues with it. We did come prepared with camo ear muffs though. She was asking to touch the Turkey and was asking questions like what does the heart look like and why does it have a horn. She kept asking questions and wanted to see us breasting it out. She was a real trooper waking up at 4:15 am. My daughter is very proudly calling herself "Little Turkey Hunter" and me "Big Turkey Hunter" and couldn't wait to tell everyone at school about her adventures. It was a very proud moment!

Thank you guys. It has made memories for sure and I am looking forward to taking my son out when he is a little older. I remember when I first went out hunting, and I have a strong feeling she will too. She has always said she wants to be a deer, rabbit and Turkey Hunter.
