Agreed! I feel bad for the guy. I hope that BP dosent put any strain on his business.

Hate to rain on all the Ottawa member's parade but BP "ain't all that...", their prices are atrocious compared to LeBaron's or SAIL. I only go to store any more for specific items on sale from their flyer and even those prices are sometimes higher than the other store's regular prices. If it's not listed in their flyer or in the middle isles in the "cheapie" sections I flat-out refuse to cave in to their inflated prices.

Case-in-point, on the weekend my woman-folk decided to go shopping at Vaughn Mills for Xmas stuff, just like 95% of the rest of the men in that mall I wasted my time walking the BP aisles. The only two items I needed were a blackpowder speedloader kit (3 tubes) and a primer tool, they had them in stock for $9.99 EACH. LeBarons lists them for $4.55 each but I decided to take the short drive to SAIL down the street, they had them regularly priced at $4.99 each and guess what? SAIL and LeBarons still make a handsome profit at that price!

I know, i know... you're thinking "what a cheapskate..." and you're probably right, but paying 100% MORE on an identical, commonly found item is absolutely insane, no matter how cheap or expensive it is.

Sure Lakon, but as you said once in a while BP's sale items ARE worth the trip.

Someone posted earlier about Redhead's Bone Dry line. It's what i've been wearing the last 3 hunting seasons and i've never been warmer, drier or more comfortable. I got my XXL parka on sale for $95... It performs as well as UA, Remington and Browning's $400 versions.
It's only downside is the fit/style isn't as trim as the big brands. But for $300 savings... i'm okay with a little extra bulk.

The ONLY use I see BPS as having in the retail market is to provide a place for loved ones to buy gift cards and a place for guys to cash in those gifts cars.....otherwise, guys can get better deals elsewhere.

Say waah?! Mike... you forget the most important use for BP... free daycare for shopping parents! Those fish aquariums keep kids occupied for hours, both as visual attractions and jungle gyms!

Could'nt agree with you more! I have the same Bone Dry parka (in hunter orange) and consider it an excellent buy, when it was on special... I liked it so much that I waited for the matching bibs to go on special the next year and pounced on them. Terrific abrasion resistance, tons of pockets, TRULY waterproof and very warm, what's not to like?

This past summer, after doing a little bit of research, I decided to buy the Browning Xpo parka and pants in camo. I ended up buying both items from SAIL (on their no tax day) for LESS than BP's parka-only, before-tax price...

Bass Pro Shop says it has decided to scrap plans for a store in Kanata.

The outdoor retailer was slated to open in 2017 but a spokesperson confirms to CFRA that they are not moving forward with the project "at this time."

Bass Pro had planned a 120,000-square-foot store located at Highway 417 and Huntmar Drive, right across from the Canadian Tire Centre.

In November, rival chain Cabela's announced it will be opening a store in the same area, across from the Tanger Outlet Mall on Palladium.

We're becoming a saturated market here, especially with Cabela's slated to build now. No great loss, not getting a BassPro.

I wonder if it had somethoig to do with the Sens talking about moving to LeBreton Flats ?
