    Default Saturdays hunt...Friends first Longbeard

Well I figure you have to look after guys that look after you.....My buddy does my work on my car....fixes brakes...whatever...and we fish together at times...
We have had some fun times in the turkey woods as well but never has he taken a longbeard but he has a few jakes under his belt....I texted him Friday evening and I basicly said too him your killing at least one longbeard this year LOL
Saturday morning we get setup with gobbling action from four different areas of this property I have.....not sure what happened but after a period of time we only had one bird gobbling....I call...he gobble....I call...he gobble....this went on for about an hour until finally we had enough as he seemed to be moving further away from us and we got up and tried to get closer.....I called and he seemed to be such a long ways from us but did he ever close the gap quick...within ten mins we hear him gobble closer and closer...where we were setup was at the bottom of a hill but not to steep of a hill...as he got closer I said to my friend get your gun on your shoulder...he is coming and with that right at the top of the hill at about 25 yards I see nothing only his fan as he is in full strut in the sun what a beautiful picture it would have been to get.....then we see him but I tell my friend to let him come to my decoy....I hear from my friend....lol.."No way Im taking him and boooooooom......"
He was a happy man....and what a beauty bird.....he decided since it was his first longbeard he was getting a full mount done in the full fan position...
    20 lbs...9 inch beard...spurs 1 inch and 1 1/8
