Brookies on the fly!

I don't know what it is but I have continuously left steel head this season to chase Brookies in small streams with no one around.

Maybe it's the solitude, the lack of poachers snaggers and entitled would be anglers that make these scrappy, beautiful fish so alluring.

Maybe it is the beautiful areas they usually bring you, away from the majior cities and pollution. You almost never hear someone say "I got him in the couch hole" or "he cam out of the shopping cart and smashed my bait". Instead it's lay downs and undercut banks, inside turns and dirt road culverts, waterfalls and overhanging trees.

There are not many species of fish where a ten inch fish is exciting! But Brookies are just special. Here are a few from this season so far!

A 6 inch brookie has always given me more pleasure than a 5 lb steelie, think its the time spent in the bush with my dad as a kid but it is without doubt a totally different feeling. Good to see you connected and had some quality time in the woods.

Nice fish haven't had a chance to fish for them yet this year been having to much fun with steelhead on the fly couple weeks its brookie time

Always enjoyed fly fishing for monster brookies. Be sure to wet your hands before handling super sensitive fish like brook trout. Nice fish.

Not sure if they grow super slow down south, but to me they are Six month old fish.
