I think every hunter feels the frustration at one point or another. Keep on it. Sometimes the long struggle makes the reward more sweet.

Good luck out there. I know personally the bugs are my biggest deterrent. I can deal with the mornings but the bugs kill me.

Not trying to sound like a smart arse but are you serious Fox? Don't give up so easily man. As already stated no gobbling doesn't mean no gobblers.

It really does not matter if there are birds or not, just not really in it right now.

I got up at 6:15am on Saturday and spent 9 hours putting in an asparagus patch.

I get married in under a month now, I really just don't have any draw to go out after turkeys.

This is the first time I have not had motivation to get up and go hunting, I saw one in the backyard and could have cared less if it had a beard or not.

$60 may not seem like a lot to many here but heck if I don't feel like hunting it is a few berry plants, a roll of chicken wire or a dozen cedar posts for the fence.

Just tough to take I guess, not asking for help or sympathy and surely not looking to be told I am an idiot for how I feel but it is good to know that I am not the only one feeling a turkey hunting downer this year.

Hey I get where your coming from, February 17 counted 26 birds at the place I hunt, opening morning heard 1 hen, no gobbles since I scouted and heard 2 different birds April 3, I think the word "wasted" is what upsets people again I'm frustrated as well just finished 8 shifts in a row all 12 hours long and thought about sleeping in this morning but dragged my out of bed, seen two fresh tracks and retrieved game camera with two lovely deer on it, 13 days it had been out and no turkeys on it. No time outdoors is wasted just got married two years ago, had a awesome baby girl who is 16 months old and can't wait for her to walk so she can come with me, bought a house in late November last year so I get the "busy thing" but hang in there I am going to a new spot in the morning with the crossbow its a long shot but if I plan on going out and stay home I wonder all day what I missed, good luck and don't let others thoughts sway you either way.

I have been out 3 days so far this season. heard gobbles the first day but couldnt get him to come into shooting range. the second day heard gobbles far off until I heard a neighbor take a shot. was out again sunday and only saw hens. heading back out tomorrow morning. hopefully my luck changes. I think a few guys on here are right though, enjoy the hunt not just the kill.

I have no real excuse to complain. Well maybe a bit. 2 weeks ago I was out and had a beast of a Tom coming in to me following 3 hens. Textbook scenario. Then some tresspassing Ahole on an ATV came flying into the field jumped off his bike and lined up on the now running birds ! If my buddy and I hadden't jumped up he eventually would have fired in our direction. That was my first hunt of the year. Second one this Saturday again perfect scenario. Walked within 75 yds of 3 roosted gobblers blasting away in the first light. They flew down and went the other way for about 1/2 hour. I eventually turned them around and figured we were going to double up right there. They closed to about 60 yds but the hen they were following was suspicious of the lone hen decoy we had out and led them across the field into the farm next door. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM was the next thing I heard. I knew there was a guy hunting there as I saw his vehicle and heard his calling. Have no clue if he killed all 3 or missed but that pretty well is how my season is going so far. No time to sneak away weekdays as work is nuts right now. Might get out this weekend. Might try without a decoy. Never have but I'm thinking if we didn't have one this Saturday we would have them parade right passed us to the open gate they were headed for.

Then don't make it a waste of money, go out there and get your dame turk. I'm the same way right now, plus on Saturday i just picked up my pup(8 weeks old) so I don't think i'll be getting into the bush the rest of the season.

    And that is perfectly normal.
Tough time of year for those of us who have planting/fencing/and all the other spring chores to do.
Got feeling like you a few years ago and haven't bought another tag. Waiting for the bug to strike again though.

I'm with you on that Fox. Still deciding whether or not to buy a license - I'll likely get out sat/sun am next weekend, but that will cut into my fishing and camping time. Maybe just spend the time fishing instead. My girls (17 & 21) will both be camping with me - any time I can spend with them in the boat is time well spent.

I think I would be sleeping in and spending the time with the kids. They will be gone before you know it. Mine are 15 and 19 and see them growing up way too fast.
