We got 16 guys and should draw our tags. I think we're going up with 10.

word of caution. if you apply to 99z (playing the game as we all do) and are still going this year - understand this - you will not be eligible for a tag if surplus is declared! you are ineligible to receive a surplus tag.[/QUOTE]
That is true, happened to one our guys 3 or 4 years ago. So here's the scenario that I'm curious about, this year
me- pool 1, 3 years without drawing
Darrel- pool 1, 3 years without drawing
Doug- pool 1, 3 years without drawing
Darrel and myself apply to whatever wmu we choose, and Doug applies to wmu 99z this year. Darrel draws the tag this year. So next year
me- pool 1, 4 years without drawing
Darrel- pool 2
Doug- pool 1, ???
Does Anybody know if applying in wmu 99z count as a year without drawing, since your not technically applying for a tag, but only to keep your pool status for the following year?? or does it count as a year, that you've applied and failed to be succesful? Hence Doug would be 4 years without drawing, the same as me.

99z is ok for those who can't hunt this year. But I hope nobody is just using it in hopes of keeping status until a preferred wmu has lower group size numbers.. Can anyone remember the last time there was a real drop in guaranteed group size? With the direction things are heading it doesn't seem very realistic...

99z was created so you keep your pool 1status. It doesn't matter how many unsuccessful years.

SWAMP...
The important number is the yr you had a tag issued through the draw process. bull or cow gun or bow
Swamp- last tag 2011
Darrel- 2011
Doug- 2011
so if this yr Swamp and Darrel apply as a group of 2. since both are p1 2011 50/50 chance of who gets it
---the guy that comes in 2nd will be the transfer recipient if needed.
Doug will be 99z and will stay in p1 with his original 2011 status.
If you keep doing what you've always done. You'll keep getting what you've always got!

Well what happens if the guy who draws the tag doesn't go?

If you applied as a group, the tag can be transferred to the alternative whose number is printed on the tag.

One of the benefits of applying as a group rather than individuals - being able to transfer the tag.
