Basically causing harm by intentionally setting traps

247(a) covers it well. Its a severe pecker slap

"...with intent to cause death or bodily harm to a person, whether ascertained or not,

    (a) sets or places a trap, device or other thing that is likely to cause death or bodily harm to a person; or

    (b) being in occupation or possession of a place, knowingly permits such a trap, device or other thing to remain in that place.

Intentionally Sets or places a trap - is the big key here.

Could you imagine if that guy in the video was blinded following that paint to the face?

When you are trained to read law, words have meaning.

    Like "intent"
    Like death or bodily harm

Were you waiting for that Buzz?

"Bodily harm" can be anything from a fat lip to damn near killing someone. That's what makes this section so all-encompassing,almost like "mischief",anything from innocent tom-foolery to attempt murder.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Well it is this - "any hurt or injury to a person that interferes with the health or comfort of the person and that is more than merely transient or trifling in nature".

And from there let the games begin.

Towards the end of my law enforcement career, one of my last incidents was a spouse trying to burn the ex's car by getting his neighbor to lend him a gallon of gas. The charge was "Conspiracy to commit an indictable offense-mischief" and "Conspiracy to commit--arson". The Crown got him on both charges. He did 8 months.
