Default Georgian Bay fishing North of 40!

I had the opportunity to guide a group of anglers from the U.S. this past weekend out of Honey Harbour. The goal was to set them up with lots of water to pursue trophy Northerns and hot spots for numbers. This group was a perfect fit, each of them prepared to crank jerk baits till their arms fall off.

Setting out at 7am the morning was the warmest part of the day as temps held at 8 degrees. The Bay was under strong wind warnings favourably from the North East for wave activity albeit the worst for fishing. The water levels are still excellent with that extra 2' and still on the chilly side without the typical weed growth in places yet.

The action gradually got better as the day progressed peaking with about an hour in a bay catching back to back fish with double headers. We had a blast catching lots of fish and even took care of the fresh Walleye for the fish fry.

Darrel caught his trophy over 40" around lunch and Mike jerked up the 23.5" Walleye at the end of the day. 90% of the fish were caught on Husky Jerks of which each had a personal fav. colour. and a handful were caught shallow on mega swammers with a few caught on an inline spinner.

Surprisingly the Sun decided to come out and the winds let off a bit near the end of the day and we fished a bit more exposed spot and the weeds were thick and holding multiple species of fish and a few loons working the area.

Dinner was the result. 23.5" Walleye

Nice fish! The eye is a sweet bonus.

I haven't been out on Georgian Bay yet this year, but will hopefully be hitting up the Key Harbour area at the end of June to go after a mixed bag (walleye, bass and pike).

How has the fishing been impacted by the increased water level in Georgian Bay, as 2 feet is significant? Are the fish in different spots than usual?

Fish are in different spots or we are finding fish we couldn't access years gone by. Using 15yr old spots this season.
Knowing too many spots is bad thing come tournament time, waste time travelling to another hotspot!
