    Default Carpet for Casting Deck

I'm putting an aluminum casting deck in my boat and wondered if anyone has recommendations for what type of carpet to use, and where to buy it. I'm in Durham region.

    Thanks

Lots of places to get marine grade carpet, I like the 20oz stuff and be sure to install a good under pad.
A phone call to any of the fiber glass shops is also a good resource.

Go with carpet, it's comfortable and your back and legs will thank you after a day of fishing it's also quiet.

Are you stuck on carpet? I'm re-doing my boat next year and I'm going with vinyl. There is a place near Barrie called Outdoor fabrics Canada, they sell both vinyl and marine carpet.

Make sure anything you buy is "anti-slip." Casting decks elevate your center of gravity making it prone to dumping your butt in the drink....and always wear a PFD.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Marker - I'm using aluminum checker plate for the deck, but i want to make it more comfortable and less shiny.

Bandwagon, Diverduck and Trimmer21, thanks for the suggestions.

Well Smitty , even checker-plate is slippery when wet . Synthetic carpet would enhance the safety-factor . --- Since not much is needed try some carpet-retailers for remnants . They'd cost you ''next to nothing'' . --- I did that (decades ago) when I built a camper .

I hate carpet in boats. It seems like a nice idea, but it just holds dirt and moisture.

I would paint your casting deck, and put sand in the mix, or just put some grip tape down.

The other alternative is marine textured flooring vinyl which is execellent (roughly the same cost as marine carpet)

I will never put carpet in a fishing boat again.
