First Lake trout in open water
Went fishing with my old man just us two without the little ones for the first time I a long time. Started the weekend with some walleye fishing but the fish were less than cooperative, managed two little ones in 10 hours, we threw everything their way. So nest day we decide to try a nearby Lake trout lake instead, they proved to be a little more accommodating. I caught three and my father caught one. I had a blast seeing as this was my first time pulling lake trout out of open water. What a fight, can't wait to go again. Until my next visit it's gonna be Crappie, Bass and Walleye with the kiddoes..

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

steve, some people say catching a Lake Trout is like reeling in a rubber boot, they haven't fished the waters you did and the ones I fish each spring , some of the best fighting fish I catch all year..... mind you I'm catching them on 6 or 8 lb test line....
great weekend with the old man it looks like...

Hey Big Mac, I'm using six pound line here too so I can't just out muscle the fish.. Lots of fun and a few good runs.. Thought it was gonna snap a few times near the boat but it held firm.
The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

Good fishing man. Lake trout are a tough fish to beat. Too much fun.
