    Default Merganser towards bag limit?

Hi just wondering if mergansers count toward your daily bag limit in Ontario as I see no comment of it in the regs?

Yes- mergansers do count towards for limit. That is why people tend to leave them alone.

That, and the fact that they taste like crud.

It's true-- mallards, woodies teals and ringnecks are the best.

But hooded mergansers are pretty decent especially in a Thai Stir Fry or a Wild Rice and Mushroom casserole. I won't hesitate to shoot a hooded Merg.

I have eaten Common Mergs but only ground up with leg meat of other ducks to make Italian Duck sausage. It's a pretty good way to use them.

Eating a Merganser is like eating a Cormorant. It goes down good, but, comes right back up,again. I once lost a bet,so,I know from JD/Budweiser boilermaker experience.

Im with Johny. Hoodies are fine. They dont deserve to be talked down to like common mergansers.

Sorry...If the bird don't jump ...the shotgun don't thump.
Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.
