This is the best run-down of the situation that I've read. This situation had very little to do with living beyond means or even govt mismanagement.

Big corps and bigger banks need to do this thing to a few economies each decade. It boosts their gains and relevance exponentially and does a good job of ensuring nations remember who is actually in control.
Canada's time is coming and it doesn't matter a whit who is in power nor how well they spend.

I have heard of Bieber making large donations to charities, Trudeau was taking $20,000+ speaking fees from charities until he was caught.
I'd vote for Bieber first.
The hair gel kid was also being paid by Loreal shampoo to advertise in Playgirl. lol

I'm not sure if that article is supposed to be satirical or if the writer has no grasp of economics.
"Banks forced debt on countries"????
Most people would refer to that as "countries borrowing from banks".
Blaming the lenders for your spending habits is putting the blame in the wrong place.

This finally proves that Tim Hortons is in fact evil. Forcing those transfats and caffeine on us unsuspecting adults. We have no chance to avoid them.......LoL!!!!
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

So the words.. let's be as polite as I can.... Cow plop.
From their own page.
"NationofChange has been involved to varying degrees with the Occupy movements, October 2011, US Uncut, the Tar Sands movement, and several other activist causes."
"NationofChange team is dedicated to fighting back against the forces of corporate greed and US imperialism"
Hmmm...... they probably think budgets balance themselves too looking over their page.
Looking at Greece....20+% unemployment, a culture of tax evasion, 26% corporate tax rate (twice Canada's and Germany's), Personal tax rate 46% ..... I guess they are to left of idiot to think those might be a problem.

Nations are forced to borrow - this is an irrefutable reality of the world we live in.
Banks work with nations when they like, or bury then when they like. Greece isn't the first and won't be the last. There have been plenty of worse off nations that have been propped up by lenders in the past, and better off nations that were forced into ruin.
Warlords, kings, emporors, prime ministers and presidents have had their time at rule. Now, we are ruled by business and business is ruled by banks.
I'd like to see the list of debt free nations you lads think Greece should have been mimicing.
