Default Fly in fishing trip with Cochrane air

We just return from a trip with Cochrane air to tomorrow lake. It was only me and my dog. We had a short wait because of fog but flew in a few hours later in the Cessna with pilot John who is a wealth of knowledge on the area fishing. The cabin was a newer outpost and nice. After the plane left and I unpacked I headed out on the lake to find some spots. Tomorrow lake is a shallow lake with tea stained water. I was told to fish the weed lines in a few areas but had no luck as the depths on the weed lines were only 4 ft and I am used to fishing deeper water. I found a point that had a weed line and a drop off to 20 foot which was about the deepest part of the lake. I anchored in 8-12 foot of water and was on to walleye right away. I caught 16 walleye in the next 2 hours and lost a pile. Not great but good. The next morning I got up at 5 am and headed out for the spot. It was very windy but the wind had moved to the south which from past experience on air cochrane lakes this meant great fishing. We found the day before that anchoring and jigging was best. After getting anchored and fighting heavy wind and many re anchorings I ended up catching 40 walleye in 3 hours. Ended up taking the afternoon off because of high winds. We headed out for an evening fish ended up catching over 60 walleye and lost a monster pike after fighting the heavy winds for another 3 hours. Caught over 100 walleye for the day which was great considering the heavy winds we had to fight and the fact I was running out of live bait and using power baits on and off which were not working much. The final morning was more torturous winds but at least they were south. After spending 2 hours fishing in the wind and running out of bait I decided to throw in the towel and let the wind win. At least we caught 24 more walleye. I also caught a few pike during the trip but never targeted them. The walleye were from 12 to 30 inches with much more over the 22 inch then near the 12 inch. After a few hours rest the plane came to bring me and my dog back to civilization. Was a great trip. I plan to go back to tomorrow lake in August and stay for 3 days and bring more live bait and be more prepared. Air Cochrane has some great walleye lake and would alway recommend a trip there

Great report. Nice trip with the pooch. Leeches, minnows, or crawlers?

I'm heading into some back lakes near Gogama in a few weeks. Had just planned on using artificials....

Hey Paddy. I used worms and minnow. I used artificial on and off but did not have much luck. Every time I went back to live bait they were biting again. Hope you have a good trip in Gogama. If you got time post how you did
