    Default Manitoulin Speckled Trout

I rented a cottage with my wife and daughter for the week (last week) on Manitoulin Island, and was able to sneak away with a buddy, to my favorite speckled trout hole in the world and it produced just as it has in the past. Check out the size of this one!

I think it warrants investing in an advanced taxidermy replica. Do any of you have any idea what something like that would cost?

The Crayfish were HUGE! I told my daughter that, if she caught 50, I would cook them for super.

They tasted awesome with garlic butter!

I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

The trout was 21.5" and I guessed it to be 6 Lb.

That is one heck of a fish! Well done!
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will squander all his earnings, relationships and free time.

Beauty of a fish... and a hell of a day buy the looks of it.
The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

I grew up in the island but never saw them that big. I hear Manitou may be producing in the near future. My problem is the lake is so big there's a million places for them to hide! Nice fish!

That man is one quality speck! Great fish.

Looks like a Nipigon/Superior strain fish and of 300 fish sampled, measured for length, girth and weighed, 22 inch fish are anywhere between 3.6 to 5.1 pounds.

That's some fish. I'd have though you'd have to go to Quebec to catch one like that. Congrats!!!

It's been my experience that lake run specs are a tad heavier than stream or river run fish. The lakes that I have fished here in Ontario normally a 19" fish weighs in at 4 lbs. Again just my experience.
