E Collar ??
I am sorry if this topic has already been beaten to death, but I haven't had much success searching the forum for earlier threads. Could someone please direct me to where I can learn the pros and cons of e collar training. I have also noticed references to legality questions .... what is that about?
Thanks,
NG

it's like asking about any other tool - leash, choke chain or a heeling stick.

In reference to some of the above, there is no legal issues with ecollar use in Canada. There was a push in Quebec to abolish collars but that was repealed. The Canadian Vet Association wrote a position paper on them but never shared with it's membership at large and has not amounted to anything.
The NRCC(National Retriever Club of Canada) has been a driving force in opposition to these positions.
The modern day collar program was started by the late Rex Carr who pioneered it's use in retriever training especially for field trials. Most of the top retriever trainers all use his approach to some degree if not all. Top trainers such as Lardy, Graham, attar Rorem all have instructional media available.

Thank you. That is exactly the feedback I was seeking. Now I have a place to start learning about this tool.
