The single income parent who can't afford hockey for his or her kids sure won't have toll money. Toll roads that are built as an alternative to existing ones is an entirely different thing as they don't remove a lane from existing infrastructure. Wynne isn't adding a new option ( which the 407 is, an option) but removing a scarce taxpayer funded asset and giving it to the wealthy. Is this what it means to be "Progressive" ? What next? 2 Tier health care? If you can pay you get better and quicker care? Do people not see how this lieing rodent is fleecing the middle class?
The QEW from Oakville to the 427 is 3 lanes each direction. They would be removing 33% of the useable lanes. Add to that the fact that 90% of the commercial drivers on the roads today get out onto the highway and plant themselves in the second lane because it's too much work to allow for traffic merging in from the right + the fact that the trucks they drive are governed to 105 = no passing when you get stuck behind two of them running side by side for miles. The time people will be stuck, sitting in traffic, idling and spewing out emissions is going to increase - how does that fit with all their GREEN policies?

This HOV lane crap would work better if people with 3 or more people in their vehicle HAVE to use those lanes. In the last 2 weeks I've seen more HOV's in the non HOV lanes then I've seen actually using the lanes which slows the traffic even more.... On top of that, the amount of drivers who do no more then the posted speed limit and stay in the middle lane is beyond me...

Good point/thought.
I mentioned earlier one unintended consequence of this will be more congestion/grid lock.
How does that help companies and businesses trying to move goods through the GTA and the 401 (the busiest highway in NA)
sometimes have to wonder just what the heck they are thinking. Still think its needed or something similar as a means of generating revenue, but............................................

"Revenue" isn't Wynnes's problem. Spending it wisely is. Fixing one without the other is like a dog chasing its tail.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Morals, ethics, values, honesty , integrity and an unwavering commitment to help a neighbour when you can are just a few of the small things that we common rural folk hold in high esteem. Dear Lord, let us give thanks to Toronto for keeping our roads paved and not just two wheeled ruts through that vast wilderness outside of Toronto. While we are it Dear Lord, please bless us with any extra income possible to send to Toronto and Kathleen Wynne to help her in a small humble way to, help her out with her 130 billion dollar infrastructure plan so we can drive cars instead of horse and buggies. Thank you Dear Lord.
Judging from the comments I think flowerpot touched a sore nerve in rural Ontario. Lol.

That may be Terry (is)...but there is no escaping the "state" of the province.
One of the prime (not only, just prime) concerns of the rating agencies is their plan to spend 130,000,000,000 on infrastructure over the next 5-10 years. It's needed, but how is it to be paid for when...
We already run a deficit that needs to be eliminated.
We have $300,000,000,000 and growing debt.
Big problems today
Bigger problems coming.
Like it or not, we are going to be getting dinged in every way imaginable.....and we will at some point likely also see cuts. Just not to those that matter.
Those they need to stay in power.

Sort of .. I think the rest of Ontario is tired of being run by Torronna. Been that way for a long time and it likely wont change so you get this resentment.

I get it. Not too fond of the big smoke myself. It's the necessary evil for most of us citiots. I way prefer being north feeding on some good Ontario pickerel and duck.
