I sure as hell can't afford to.
"They have you"? What do they have? The records are old and obsolete. They will have old information that really means nothing? As I said, I would comply insofar as re-registering the firearms I intend to use for hunting. That's it? As far as confronting police, of course not. They would be welcome to inspect my home for the firearms I have registered. Believe me, that's the only ones they would find?

They can use the old registry data for local Police depts to go to each PAL holder who actually had a gun registered if they suspect you may still own it.

Yep, pretending I had a Browning semi-auto rifle and shotgun and they were registered before, now on the new firearm seizures or new registry they don't show up ....the next sound I would hear after the deadline... boom boom.... the sound of the officers with a search warrant banging on my door. No receipt eh.... the next sounds... hammer on walls being opened, beeps from the yard being metal detected... if it isn't on the registry (say new owner didn't register it) there is probable cause and they will look unless you have a receipt.

I have already looked into it some, if the Liberals or NDP win my cousin in the US will be getting as a gift my Grandpa's shotgun and the .22 I got when I was 16.

Absolutely NOT GW....anyone found using any hint of data from the Long Gun registry will be going to jail....that data was ordered by the Fed's to the RCMP to destroy it....if it surfaces, the holder will do time.

At this point, there shouldn't be, including the RCMP, any police force with any knowledge as to what a person has in the way of a long gun. It's no longer available legally.

So, the police are going to lay charges on themselves for having Registry data? Too funny. I hate to tell you but there is no Santa either. There is no way of preventing the RCMP to use that data. Nobody will ever get charged. What's your theory on why The multiple investigations into very simple cases against the Ontario Liberals have never nor will likely ever end? The RCMP never accepted losing control when the registry was scrapped.

MikePal, Laws can be changed and copies can magically appear. Also something about they were not suppose to be deleted because of an access to information request. This could also shield someone who hid a copy.

Basically it's in the hands of a Commission; https://www.crcc-ccetp.gc.ca/en/chai...-river-alberta
