I posted this quote here a while back...makes it clear from the Liberal parties perspective..it's not going to be an issue...

This is from the man that is really running the show and calling the shots...not the pretty window dressing in front of the cameras.

I think that the mere mention of a long gun registry will raise bile to the throats of most taxpayers because it turned out to be such a debacle last time. I think It would be a dumb move to raise that issue again fir any politician.

Am I reading what I think I'm reading? A call to Canadians to go rogue and not abide by the law? ... What - are we going to hide in the mountains and resist for the next 20 years until a friendly government will come to power? ...... I thought so.....

Just don't register. En mass non compliance.
Unfortunately, most don't have the balls to refuse and will gladly line up to register... Again.

On page 14 of 2015 Fishing Annual there is a Statement NDP WILL NOT RETURN LONG-GUN REGISTRY,says Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus by a press release on Dec 4th.
But go to the hot line section page 2 of this issue under GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS.

Federal NDP leader Thomas Mulcair has said a NDP government would visit the long gun registry in some form.
By what form???????????????
My belief is that they will, I hope we can believe what is printed on page 14.

In my youth the Conservatives had a dynasty in Ontario, and federally were popular in rural communities, so much so my father who had Liberal leaning once comment. The fact that the NDP platform already has a firearms policy, and it doesn't include a plan to ban semi-autos or create a new registry.

Stephen Harper has made all kinds of statements in the past that he never followed through on as PM. He has in fact done things that are directly contrary to previous statements. All politicians do. So I don't consider that any past statement by Trudeau or Mulcair is any more meaningful than anything Harper said in defining a hidden agenda.

Others here like to catastrophize. What makes them do that? Eternal pessimism?

Exactly! I will, of course, vote for the CPC but I am really ticked off with the CPC for not completely repealing Bill C-68 (which I believe they promised to do.)

I'm not exactly sure what they promised to do. But I'm with you in thinking that Bill C-68 should be completely repealed. It was one of the most high handed hijacking of private property rights this country has ever witness.

And reasons like mulclairs statement is the reason the NDP never get in power in Parliment. They along with the liberals are a bunch of cowards..........

Neither one of those clowns will re-enact the OLD LGR, but will definitely create a new and improved version. As much as the old one was a soup sandwich, there were alot of lessons learned. It cost a ton of money due to the fact that everything was voluntary, I for one have never paid a dime yet, except for the FAC/PAL course. We now see there is a fee 80$ or so. And as some one has pointed out, the data is a non issue, but it is not gone. All they have to do is find a Judge that will order it active again. As we all know, our address is part of the PAL process, that is all they need. We may fight tooth and nail, but if you don't have guns, you don't need a PAL. They bring back some kind of registration, and you get caught out there, DONE.

I can also foresee more fee's. Every firearm will come with a cost, annually. Just think of the cash cow. Oh look Mr. Bloggins, you have 6 firearms, OH and you wanna keep them, well that will cost ya 100$ per gun per year. Oh you don't wanna pay, OK, we can just send the RCMP over and treat you as a high risk threat. Cause you got illegal firearms.

Remember, common sense has no place in Gun Laws, it is all based on fear-mongering the masses, and the masses all vote...

They tried the gun owner fee in one German state, which had a pretty conservative government at the time. When's about money all governments are the same! I think it was around 100Eur/per firearm/year, and Germans like to collect guns. High quality rifles and plenty/cheap (for what they are) since the old-timers are passing away and not so many are allowed to own compared the past. The good thing was that they were so greedy that it was obvious. If they would have only asked 10Eur ten years ago, they could be asking now 100 or more.
The real idea behind is not money (although I think this "tax" was the political sales pitch), it's to make sure that citizens cannot afford to own firearms and they have no financial value (only cost).
On a side note, it would have destroyed an entire manufacturing industry there (unlike here), but secured useless government jobs and ensured that criminals would no longer fear to break in anywhere. More reason to tell people guns are bad and need to be taken away (from law abiding citizens, whereas nobody dares to tackle the real problem). - sounds familiar?
