Default New to Upland Game Hunting - Advice

    Hi guys,

Not new to hunting, but I am new to Upland Game Hunting and I am looking to get into it this fall. Any advice on some areas to go on crown land where we can bag a couple birds and not bug anyone while doing it? I am located in Oshawa but am willing to drive a few hours north to make it worth it.

    I appreciate the feed back.

Are you hunting with a dog?

How far are you willing to drive? The upland hunting gets better the further North you get.

no dog than I'd be heading north as far as your comfortable to drive. Look for cut over areas a few years old. Walking old logging roads would be the way to go.

fff, what do you find there? I never had any luck really... any pics of the habitat?
OP - check out crown land use atlas (online), couple hours north you will start finding grouse.

all I will say is get the best boots you can and a great pair of upland pants to protect your legs from all the pickys ,,.also spend some time on the skeet range before the season ,,good luck ,,Dutch

With no dog and given the choice of mature forest or new growth I'd take the new. What you often find there is better forage habitat for grouse and a better chance of spotting them however if you have no luck there don't hunt it.
