But we're in one of those kill all the moose to starve the wolves to save the caribou 10 yrs from now WMU's!
Just because we got tags does not mean we're going to see anything. There are lots of BOW surplus in our WMU also.
We're going to have to hunt our azzes off and hope for perfect weather if we even have a chance of seeing something.
We needed 3 tags because if we only had one we (all 10) of us would need to party hunt and ALL stay within 5 kilometers. This would be a tough thing to do. With the new regs shifting all the calf tags to the first 2 weeks of the gun season WE bow hunters got a good screwin.
Anyway this problem was discussed in earlier posts. The only way for us to hunt with any type of sanity was to take a gamble and try for 3 tags. We got lucky is all I can say. We will be calling in for some cow tags too. We have NO intention of using the cow tags. If we can get any it will just make it easier for smaller groups to party hunt.
Best of luck for anyone else goin moosin!
Hey Sk33ter, is this a new area for you that you are heading too? Also if I am guessing the correct zone, the water levels all around the area are very very low if that helps you at all. Just got back from there last night after 14 hour drive home.

Hey Donnie we're going back to where we've been going for the past 12 yrs or so. We know the area pretty good and just need some favorable weather and the bulls to leave the cows and look for just one more. Hopefully ME!
Anyway thanks for the water update. Probably better for us if it's low rather then high.

But first we gotta get through the bear season ... got 5 baits out july 22 going back next Wednesday. trying some NEW stuff (like we all do) we'll see if it works! fingers crossed!

Year 3 for calf but I guess it`s going to be pretty hard to get anything else in WMU 40. Hopefully my group can make it further up the province one year; where there are better tag numbers.

We got a cow tag this year, now need to decide if we will be going during our usual time or go for the calf season.

Are you heading back to the same area as last year, or new spot?

Because it's a whole different world archery hunting for Moose,I'm glad the OMNRF has the good sense to issue more tags. I'm not sure where this leaves you vis-a-vis calf restrictions, but,I guess that will remain to be seen. At any rate,it sounds like a hoot. Good luck.
