The NDP policy book is not the platform. What is the platform? We don't know yet.

So this puts the NDP under the same cloud as the Liberals: no clear policy, so we can only speculate. We can't take it as given that gun control will even be in their platform.

What is floated in an election platform rarely resembles what happens after a win. Dalton didn't campaign on new health taxes. In fact he signed a pledge to not raise taxes. The left are by far the worst for having hidden agendas. If Mulcair thinks it might cost him seats he won't put his cards on the table. Doesn't mean he isn't holding them.
Obviously if the NDP suddenly removed this document during a campaign internal polling told them parts of it would hurt them. Some would interpret it as "hiding the agenda". Spinning it as a grass roots document is well..... just spin. This is what the result was of conventions and policy meetings. The people who attend these events are the active and influential party members and very much shape party policy. The voter in Chibougamou Quebec or Kamloops BC not so much. He just knows he doesn't trust JT and hates Harper. Quebec and BC will give Mulcair the election. If JT keeps losing ground in Ontario Mulcair could get a majority. This stock market correction may scare older voters into sticking with Harper but people who are 30-40 yrs from retirement don't understand or care at this stage of their lives. Public sector employees couldn't care less as they are insulated with defined benefits until death.

I don't find anything there I disagree with. Based on their own records and the historical stance of their parties, only a fool wouldn't wonder whether further firearms and ammunition controls would be at least a strong possibility, perhaps even a probability if either Trudeau or Mulcair form a government. So in a figurative sense, it would be wise to be "locked and loaded" on that front.

By the same token,we can never assume that it's not, either. What Bigbear said,X2.

It won't matter what any gov't tries to do in the way of banning gun ownership if gun owners just said "no" and flat out, vocally refused to comply.

How many LUFA members ever went to jail?

Now that the LGR is gone, I wonder how many recovered stolen long guns ever get back to the owners today.

After all there is now no onus placed on any police department unless a full report is made of the theft and they were recorded on CPIC.

How would the victim of a stolen gun ever know the gun was recovered? I would expect forces like the RCMP and OPP to just quietly destroy all guns they recover anyway. They want to disarm all legal firearms owners as do both the Libranos and Dippers. And of course the database of the registry still exists. It's inaccurate and hidden away but it still exists and will magically reappear when the left takes over. Don't you know Libranos are magicians? Just this week Wynne "magically" found money to grease teachers into helping JT get elected by giving raises after clearly stating there wasn't any money? Magic!

there's a remote chance that there are still people out there that can read and write. a very novel concept I know, but if you are really concerned write down the numbers YOURSELF
based on what you say, the police would keep and split any recovered stolen jewelry, right?

I've never seen anyone investigate an occurance then just file it and forget it,especially, when it came to firearms which moved to the top of the list. Whether they happened to be registered or not, serial numbers and owner ID became part of the report amd automatically entered onto CPIC as a standard investigative procedure. In view of that, the LGR was merely a redundant level of bureaucracy.

True Story; The guy who owns our hunt camp gave his son a shotgun he had picked up from a sale conducted at the local hotel back in the 70's. When the LGR came into effect the son registered the gun.

About 6 months later the RCMP showed up and confiscated the shotgun as it was reported stolen back in the 70's and returned it to the original owner.
