    Default Humminbird 570 Portable Issues

    hey guys,

Took the sonar unit out onto Simcoe today and I had some issues with it.
First lets rule out a few potential issues:
    1. Battery was at full charge
    2. Battery connections were tested and are good
    3. Head unit works well, displays all information
    4. Transducer was placed in appropriate position on transom away from motor and angled at appropriate angle.
    5. Transducer was connected to head unit

When I powered the unit up, I noticed that it was accurately reading depth and surface temp, but for some reason, the image on the screen was extremely choppy. It displayed a thin bar of the image, then about 1'' to 1 1/2'' of blank space.

I am wondering if my transducer is toast. I have had the unit for about 2-3 years, though I have used it maybe 20-30 times.

Any help is greatly appreciated, since I am not sure if I am looking at a new 'ducer or a new head unit.

    Cheers

The only other things I can think to rule out are interference from another FF or from the trolling motor (not properly grounded).

Thanks for the insight guys, sounds like I am on the hook for a new transducer.
