Nothing wrong with going back and asking again down the road. I lost a waterfowl spot one year simply because the owner said he'd heard enough gunshots. A number of years later, I went back and he had no problems with me going back in.
Look at the bright side, this may lead you to better opportunities in other areas that you may have never bothered to look into.
