Ottawa Valley Shooting/Murder(s)
Wow, the rumour mill was in full swing all day as the old hens tied up every phone line in the county.
Apparently a multiple murder, hostage taking and cross county chase. A pretty bad dude with a long history of domestic violence dropped-charges.

Crazy news. Years ago our band used to play the wilno tavern often and it was always fun and the people always great.
That rug really tied the room together

Has too much time on their hands
That's horrific! I knew one of the victims - Anastasia Kuzyk. She was a local real estate agent who showed us a house a few years ago. Such a terrible thing to happen! Unfortunately it does happen every so often.
Member of the National Firearms Association (NFA).

This brings up bad vibes for me. My friend's husband choked her , assaulted her , was charged and has been in jail since July. In there, he has threatened to "deal with" her, her sister and friends.
These people eventually get out of jail-very similar situation to the Ottawa story.
I'm not saying they can be kept in forever- but makes for a lot of anxiety/fear in the lives of many women.

A chunk of my family is up that way (Whitney to Barrys Bay), Facebook was going crazy over this, they had the cars going by and they were all trying to figure out what was going on. He apparently was just released from jail.

This when every one of your friend's family members and friends need to step up and be sure she knows she has their support and protection. She needs to know she has a safe haven any time of day or night, a quick response team who arrive faster than police (unfortunately not difficult in most of ON), a support team through any legal battles be they civic or criminal. And a few guys who make the abuser quite aware he'll be torn limb from limb the first time he tries ANYTHING, doesnt exactly hurt either.
This is something I'm very passionate about - and not just for female victims either. Very glad you friend took the difficult road of having her abuser imprisoned. Far too many victims fail to do so.

Dead on, been there for a friend like this before, will be there any time in any capacity.
The worst thing for someone in a situation like this is feeling alone against the violence.

Sad to hear one of the victims was Anastasia, one of the girls who used to work in the tavern. She was always smiling and kind.

She could have a shotgun here, bigger hole.
Living in fear is not a way to live, the fact that you actually have to consider getting a firearm for protection is the problem.
