    Default Looking good for doves....

Last April/May I planted a black oil sunflower plot for doves just over an acre in size. Flowering has begun and they should be ready to go for the dove opener. It's my first go at it, no spraying, just planting...

I got it covered on one side by 30 acres of winter wheat that will be taken down this week...

...and covered on two sides by oats and winter wheat that will remain standing...

...come on September 10th. After duck opener it will mallards in the morning and doves in the afternoon.

It's been working out great. There's around 100 doves in there at any given time. I haven't hunted it yet, but will on saturday.

If I were to change anything though, I would plant them a little later and go bigger. I am almost cleaned out. Lots of wheat still though.

A good trick when I use to live in the US and hunt doves...lots of dove fields would put a "fake" power line near there field....something heavy gauge between two poles giving them something to land on....they also like water as well...if you ever want company shoot me a pm...have fun
