How do grouse look around Kapuskasing?
I am headed to Moonbeam, just down the road from Kap for the Thanksgiving weekend. Any thoughts on how the population cycle looks like? I know there are woodcock there, lots of grouse normally hang out there but I have no clue about the numbers this year as no family up there hunts anymore.

Nice, the family farm is 250 acres with another 500 of attached property, I like walking in the bush so I will stay off the roads and just enjoy. This will be the first time I will be able to hunt the land grandpa always went through for grouse, he has passed though so never able to hunt it with him.

They look about the same as any other place. Feathers. Feet. Wings. Etc.
The Northern population is doing well this year.

Yeah we saw a slew of them in Hearst the 1st week of September. Enjoy your time hunting in your Grandfather's footsteps...he may not be physically there but he'll be with you.

You are not kidding, I don't go up often but I was up there a few times between grandma passing and grandpa passing, it is creepy, nothing changed and I bet that my cousins now who are living in the house have not changed anything either.
Interesting that you are from Brechin, that is where my grandpa met my grandma on a blind date, they lived in a trailer there before moving north.

And my Dad spent the last 6 years of his life in Brechin but was born and raised in Hearst...the opposite of your Grandparent's journey. Thanks for sharing, have a great trip.
