    Default Sharp-tailed Grouse?

Anyone know if the sharpies are around Kap?

Grandpa used to talk about seeing them in the tops of the spruce trees near Moonbeam but I have never seen one.

They are very rare but are around, see the odd one on the north end of Manitoulin, which is about the farthest they range south

When you get passed Nipigon you will start getting in some.

Have shot several south of Hearst, so don't see why they wouldn't be around Kap. Look for them in more open areas like recent cuts and roads with wide grassy ditches.

Lots of meadows that used to be hay fields and the pipeline there too, I will keep my eyes open.

Really getting stoked for an upland hunt, I have not been this excited to go after birds since I was 16.

sharptails are real leary birds, they don't sit to tight and will flush early, and yes they do prefer a more open field...

Just northwest of Thunder Bay you will see good numbers.

Usually find them in numbers in open areas like clear cuts in small flocks. They claim they do migrate to the tree line when the weather starts getting bad way up North. Good luck.
