Default Astro 320 collar stopped working

Bought a 320 used last year it worked great . Used it a couple of times this year then nothing . It has no light and won't charge. Had an electrion at work look at it and one of the parts on the mother board has burnt out. ( you can see the black)

I see mother boards for sale one ebay or new DC 40 collars , but am not sure what I should do with this Murrs issue.

On that note I have never updated it or put it on line ,but could they have sent a remote flash to " kill" units in Canada??

    Any help is great Joe

Worth a call to the collar clinic. Spoke to them recently about replacement batteries and seem like a great bunch of guys.

    no.

how much is that replacement part you are talking about..?
may be cheaper to buy another used collar?

Very true, also even if it is a cheap part that burnt out there could be unseen damage to IC's or even the Eprom/processor chip and memory.
Surface mount parts need special tools, you can't just use the 45 watt soldering iron from home hardware.

Even if you have all the parts and asked me to work on it because I have the right tools, I would say NO.
Take the warning labels off. Darwin will solve the problem.

Called the Collar Clinic. He only repairs E collars not GPS collars. He told me not to send it to garmin from Canada or they will NOT return it to you.

I am now on the hunt for a place that repairs or trades in collars. New ones are around $200 US.

Disapointed I thought Garmin had a good name and produce!!

Probably best off to buy another used collar and set that one aside as junk.
Many of the American Hound guys are selling off the Astro gear and upgrading to Alpha, you should have no trouble finding dozens of collars used.
Their is a Facebook group called Garmin Astro & Alpha Users. join that group and you will be all set.

If not, send it to Garmin but use a U.S. PO Box as a return address.

I had one Astro repaired and they sent it back to me, it was few years ago.
There's more myths about Astros, than there's about cougar in ON.
I think Garmin has excellent products, as someone put it 'imagine a piece of electronics on a dog's neck - what it goes through...'
I bought used collars from double u hounds, good experience. If you decide to buy from them, PM me for details.
