Awesome bear hunt
I started to prepare at 1 PM knowing the extra grease and moose scraps would be gone. Sure enough, they were, lol. I had some concerns since this was an off day but the wind favored me. I replaced the logs and blocked the trail they like so they had to eat or drink broad side,or I thought. Nanook and I left the bait site about 3:15 and I locked her in the truck and drove back and snuck in the last 50 yards and climbed into the stand. Settled into the stand at 3:30 and had a good supply of snacks and a few cans of pop in a bottle.
The first bear came came in a 4 PM and went to the trail cam and picked up mt scent, that I hope got all the action. It went to the bait and picked up some meat and ran off. The next bear was bigger and went to the cam and started walking towards me scenting. I thought it was going to climb the ladder but stopped about 10 feet away and I took the safety off. It heard the click and stared at me than turned away.It didn't like the mud hole in front of the bait and took the dry way around. It climbed a log and reached in and took a tender piece of meat and left. A huge bear came in around 5:30 and like the other went to the cam.then to the bait and grab the meat and left.
Shortly before 6,I saw a bear coming in like it owned the bait and climb over the pole and reached in for some meat. I fired and it fell off the pole and took about three steps and dropped dead. Not a single sound. I did take some video of the bears and walk to the bear but the program will not process the card. I do have a few video cams set up and I'll check them tomorrow. Tickled pink. Brent
