Bears in TREES!
The other day I was headed home from my in-law’s farm and my son (from the back seat of the family van doing 90km/hr down the road) yells “BEAR”. It was so random and unusual for him to do that, that I believed him. (Sometimes my daughter says she saw a kangaroo in the forest, but that is our little joke) We backed the van up and sure enough, 150ft off the fence line there was a bear 20ft up in a maple tree. I was surprised and impressed that he spotted it.
So, has anyone shot a bear out of a tree?
Do you look up for bears when walking and stalking for bear?

I picked a nice shady tree, once, on the side of a hill to sit under to set up for summer G'Hogs and didn't realize something was thirty feet above until a branch hit me on the head.....Momma Bear and a cub. It was sure time to get out of Dodge, then, let me tell ya. LOL

I never look up when baiting because the Cubs climb the closes tree( above the bait ). Lol. A few young Bears don't want to leave the bait because it safe for them to feed. This spring I had one About 20 yards away all the time we baited. Usually try and bait around 1 pm -2 pm. It's a less active period for them.

I'm not sure I would shoot a bear out of a tree, or a turkey for that matter. It seems a little less sporting to me, but I wouldn't look down on anyone who did it.
