Default Very slow (and hot) in north WMU75

I wish Momma Nature would smarten up. This 20 degree weather is a real pain in the butt. I got lucky and took a yearling buck with my ML on opening morning. I usually like to hang the deer for 5-7 days if I can, but two days of 14 - 19 degree weather sealed the deal. Didn't want to take any chances with the meat. Skinned and cut him into 6 pieces yesterday, and now have him chilled in two marine coolers, with ice. It's so warm, the blowflies are out. Anyone attempting to hang had better watch out for these guys. We've heard almost zero shooting around us this year. The deer are still here (game cameras show this). Damn hot weather has really changed their behaviour. It's been perfect zero-wind nights, making them pretty much nocturnal right now. If I had a three inch tallow fat layer (wait a minute, I think I do), and a heavy winter coat, I think I'd be laying in some cool cedar swamp during daylight hours. We only hunt field edges. I'm hoping for some colder weather, mixed with a few windy, crappy nights. No real sign of any rutting yet in the area we hunt north of Fenelon Falls. No shortage of coyotes. Seeing lots on the game cams. Sometimes 2-3 at a time, usually eating all my apples.

Get in deep & set-up in a cool place near water. The guys that hunt where the deer are will have lot's of action.

Field edges are ok for last light feeding however they will still move during the day but will stay in the shade to stay cool...

Good luck & I am really glad I picked te second M/L season in 92B week of Nov 16th...

Hey Fenlon I was passing through Fenlon Tuesday night around 8 30 pm on 121 just before 35 by the veterinarians clinic and the farm on the hill. A big buck jumped out in front of me and if I had not hit the brakes and his arse didn't tighten up (he was that close) and dig in just a bit more I would have clipped him. Doing a carrot run from Bradford seen 2 single does at the camp on the move so luckily I was on high alert but never expected to see one there.
