Going to hunt 47 next week, the guy who runs the camp has asked all of us coming up for the second week of the hunt to purchase a wolf tag as many have been seen, and the deer numbers are down from last year. As of Wednesday when he called 4 deer down and two bears, with 11 hunters , we have 14 guys the second week.

That does not sound that bad at all, better than 50% on animals.

old mans up there. says they haven't seen much. been very warm. did see a couple wolves though, so a tag might not be a bad idea.

I just got back, we have 5 deer down, I shot at wolf on Tuesday, clipped it, but never found it. I agree though, deer numbers are down and wolf numbers are up. If we didn't have the hounds, i'm thinking we might have had 0 deer down.

was one of the best areas, owned 100 acres there but the numbers fell especially when camps were hanging 15-20 deer every year
sold it about 8 yrs ago have property closer with higher deer numbers!!

The camp that I go to in 47, near Commanda, has been in the family as a farm since the 20's, just as a hunt camp for the last 30 years or so.

I just came back from WMU 47; off 69 just north of Parry Sound, where the OPP station is north of the Indian reserve. It was our (my dad's and mine) first hunt with an experienced family friend, we only managed to get 3 in our group off crown land, we had a blast.

Day 1- 2 camp setup and scouting. lots of deer tracks, pellets, even bears

November 2nd comes.

Day 3 - saw one large bull moose 300 meters, 5 min in open field. no deer
Day 4 - nothing, no deer in sight
Day 5 - nothing, no deer in sight
Day 6 - nothing, no deer in sight, we tried going around 3 km circle to flush towards our family friend. nothing.

I learned a lot; preparation, scouting, tracking, expectation, weather. most importantly the stamina, endurance to sit in a single spot for 5-6 hours without talking, observing and just listening. it not only increased my awareness of the forest, but the importance of being stealthy.

Heading up to 47 next week near the mag river. Buddy who was hunting our spot monday missed a shot at an 8 pointer. Hes been spending more of his time hunting grouse. I'll have to ask him about wolves in the area before heading up.
