Default Suggestions for crossbow for youth

Hi guys i'm looking for a crossbow for my son for Christmas, looking for something fairly light going to be just target shooting for now but something he can use down the line hunting, any suggestions would be great.

    Thanks

Find a store that has some selection and go try some out, go pick some up.

One thing I noticed is that a lot of bows now are weighted forward which is really difficult for someone like my wife, she is only 5'1" tall and has short arms. We ended up getting a exocet 165 for her and we have a crank for loading the bow, we found that this was the best option for us as the cams add too much weight to the front and cause it to stress her arm too much holding it up. The stock weight is not nearly as bad as the weight out front, even is the bow was overall lighter the weight forward was a killer.

Good luck but get him to go and hold a lot of bows and something will fit.

I have an old Excalibur Wolverine. They were some of the first crossbows that Excalibur made. They are perfect for a youth as they are easy to load and a little lighter. Might be a little hard to find but you can usually pick one up for around $350.

Another suggestion is to use shooting sticks to hold up the front of the bow. I have a custom made set which fits my Excocet perfectly.
